Archeopoint: discovering the Roman origins of Pasiano di Pordenone.
MIRS is home to the prestigious Archeopoint, a permanent, multidisciplinary space that serves as a repository, a workshop for inventory, cataloguing and research, and an exhibition and information area dedicated to the ancient history of Pasiano di Pordenone and its roots in antiquity.
The rich history of settlement is evidenced by numerous archaeological discoveries in various villages and surrounding areas.
Finds and studies at a range of sites have demonstrated widespread settlement of the area in the periods of Romanisation (2nd–1st century BC) through to the full imperial age (1st–2nd century AD) and beyond (4th–6th century AD).
Archaeological materials show that in Roman times this area was in a productive rural zone, within a centuriated territory.
Subsequent historical periods, up to the modern day, are catalogued by documents, material remains and buildings, some of great value, demonstrating the ongoing presence of a community in this part of western Friuli.
